BUILD: A Closer Look at Race in America
In this session, participants will discuss and define race and the levels of racism and review research on how racism is perpetuated in today’s society. We will also explore how our experience(s) influence our perceptions of others and develop strategies to support racial healing and racial equity.
The Building University of Iowa Leadership for Diversity (BUILD) certificate is an initiative of the Chief Diversity Office that gives UI faculty and staff the opportunity to gain strategic knowledge and skills to contribute to a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. Sign-up is available for employees through Employee Self-Service/My Training. To locate certificate courses search for “BUILD” and a list of eligible courses will appear.
