"The Never-Ending Battle to Understand Impact"

Lynne Davidson, PhD, MPH
Executive Director
2020 MicroClinic Initiative

How the social impact of community health initiatives in underserved areas prevents/addresses chronic illness/epidemics.

Dr. Davidson spent two decades in academia, where measuring costs and benefits of social impact projects was entirely theoretical. Six years ago, she started applying theory to the real world of rural Kenya. She will talk about the challenges of providing donors with empirical evidence and whether the pursuit of academic-caliber data is in the best interest of the people being served.

Dr. Lynne Davidson has over 25 years of experience in academic administration, political science, and international development. She joined 2020 MicroClinic Initiative in 2012 after consulting independently with several organizations on issues of poverty and microfinance. Dr. Davidson's academic career includes serving as deputy to the president, vice provost, and assistant professor of health services research at the University of Rochester. Prior to her career in academia, she held numerous positions with federal agencies focused primarily on equity and health policy. Dr. Davidson holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from Northwestern University, an MPA in Domestic Policy Analysis from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, and an MA and PhD in Political Science from the University of Rochester.
