Join editor Harry Stecopoulos as he hosts The Iowa Review’s annual public reading. Three local writers—Sara McGuirk, Marc Rahe, and Elizabeth Weiss—will read recent work, and the brand-new fall 2018 issue of The Iowa Review will be unveiled. Help celebrate local publishing and local literary culture. Reception to follow in the Café.

Sara McGuirk holds an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She was the winner of the 2017 Phyllis Smart-Young Prize in poetry and a finalist for the 2017 Madeleine P. Plonsker Emerging Writer’s Prize in poetry. Sara is currently finishing her first collection of poetry as well as a feature-length screenplay and a television pilot.

Marc Rahe is the author of On Hours (Rescue Press, 2015) and The Smaller Half (Rescue Press, 2010). His poems have appeared in jubilat, MAKE, the PEN Poetry Series, and elsewhere. He earned an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

Elizabeth Weiss earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she was a Truman Capote Fellow. She has written nonfiction for the New Yorker website, and her debut novel is forthcoming from the Dial Press. She teaches writing at the University of Iowa.
