To commemorate World AIDS Day (December 1st, 2018) IC RED WEEK will bring a series of HIV/AIDS public awareness programming to Iowa City. As is now tradition, the Pentacrest Museums will participate in a few ways:

Reading of Names (11/30): The Reading of Names from sunrise to sunset (6:45am - 4:40pm) will take place on the Pentacrest. Organizers have chosen a reading of names to personalize the lives behind the statistics we often hear but may not humanize.

AIDS Memorial Quilt Showing (11/26 - 12/1): A panel from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be hung in the Old Capitol Museum on the 1st floor rotunda for all to see throughout the week.

CALL TO ACTION: We invite the public to sign up to read names from the podium. Set in only 5 minute increments, volunteering for a time slot will be both quick and impactful. Sign up HERE

Please take a moment to watch THIS SHORT VIDEO from the The University of Iowa College of Public Health on the Reading of Names event in 2015. It captures the importance of these commemorations with grace.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
