SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT
Spektral Quartet
The twice Grammy-nominated Spektral Quartet returns to the University of Iowa with Something to Write Home About, a characteristically era-hopping sonic thrill ride that encourages audience members to encounter their past and present. Featuring mesmeric movements by Beethoven, Brahms, Shulamit Ran, Kotoka Suzuki, and LJ White, Something to Write Home About uncovers the heart and the intellect behind the music with an experience that invites the audience do much more than sit back and relax.
Featuring selections from:
Shulamit Ran, String Quartet No. 2, “Vistas”
Kotoka Suzuki, Minyo
Ludwig van Beethoven, String Quartet No. 16 in F Major, Op. 135
Johannes Brahms, String Quartet No. 1 in C minor, Op. 51
LJ White, Foot Foot (based on the 1960s cult classic by The Shaggs, “My Pal Foot Foot”)
