With Little Women, Mark Adamo has crafted one of the most popular contemporary operas of the 21st century. Adapted from the Louisa May Alcott classic novel about four sisters who come of age just after the American Civil War, Adamo’s opera focuses on Jo March’s resistance to the passage of time. Powerfully theatrical and musically sophisticated, Little Women notably contains a wealth of memorable melodies and tuneful arias.

“A major miracle of success…an assured sense of structure and genuine arias supported by wonderfully deft instrumentation…haunting and dramatically conclusive.”
The Wall Street Journal
