"Some Advances in Noncommutative Function Theory" by Professor Paul Muhly, Department of Mathematics, The University of Iowa
Abstract: I will describe my recent efforts to build noncommutative function algebras from algebras of generic matrices. The key point is that under certain irreduciblilty assumptions it is possible to identify explicitly the spectrum (in the sense of algebra) of any one of these of these algebras.
