This lecture is part of the 3-day "Objects, Sculptures, Locations" lunchtime lecture series.
Graham Harman is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). Born in Iowa City in 1968, he attended public schools in nearby Mt. Vernon. He is the author of more than 300 articles and 17 books, most recently Object-Oriented Ontology: A New Theory of Everything (2018) and Speculative Realism: An Introduction (2018).
Harman, whose work on the metaphysics of objects led to the development of the theory of object-oriented ontology, is visiting campus as part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Fellow residency of sculptor Charles Ray (BA '75, Art), whose career the Los Angeles Times cited as "...easily among the most important of the last twenty years."
