Kevin Brockmeier and Tracie Morris

Writers’ Workshop visiting faculty members, Tracie Morris and Kevin Brockmeier, will read from their work on Sunday, November 10th in the Frank Conroy Reading Room at 8pm.

Tracie Morris is a writer, sound poet, critic, scholar, bandleader, actor and multimedia performer. She is the author of Intermission, Chap-T-her Won, handholding: 5 kinds, Rhyme Scheme, and was co-editor, with Charles Bernstein, of BAX 2016: Best American Experimental Writing. Her sound installations have been presented at galleries and museums, including the Whitney Biennial and MoMA. She leads her own eponymous band and is a lead singer for Elliott Sharp's group, Terraplane. Morris has earned numerous awards and fellowships for poetry and performance. Morris holds an MFA in Poetry from Hunter College, a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University, and has studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and at Michael Howard Studios.

Kevin Brockmeier is an American writer of fantasy and literary fiction. He is the author of The Illumination, The Brief History of the Dead, The Truth About Celia, and A Few Seconds of Radiant Filmstrip; two short story collections and two children’s novels. He is a recipient of three O. Henry Awards, the PEN USA Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and an NEA Grant. Brockmeier is an alumnus of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
