UI Department of Philosophy: Small group discussion on "The Insanity Defense for Corporations" led by Prof. Mihailis Diamantis, Associate Professor of Law University of Iowa. Abstract: Corporations can behave in cruel and irrational ways. Commentators observing this sometimes say those corporations must have a mental illness. I'll argue that severe mental illness can defeat a corporation's moral responsibility. When it does, corporations charged with criminal conduct should be able to claim the insanity defense. Location: EPB 211.
