Professor of Religion at Drake University
Author of Raising White Kids: Bringing Up Children in Racially Unjust America
Powerful multi-generational patterns of white socialization shape the lives of white U.S.-Americans. These show up in every aspect of U.S. social life, including in our professional lives where they impact all of us: white people, people of color who work with them/us, practitioners, clients, and more. In this presentation, Dr. Harvey will bring insights from her broader research to reflect on the ways understanding such patterns can help us identify shared tools and practices that can grow our collective capacity to create cultures of anti-racism and true equity in our public roles and professional environments—including in the terrain of public health.
