The rapid spread of immersive technology is creating new possibilities for everyday existence where time and proximity no longer dictate the layers of the world in front of you.

Virtual, augmented, and mixed realities are shifting our experience of education from the one-dimensional (physical) to the multi-dimensional (physical and virtual).

Attend 4CAST’20 to explore whether immersive media technologies might offer ways of imagining new directions in learning and also help us identify a path to get there.

This year's keynote address will be presented by Sean Hauze, PhD, associate director of instructional technology services and lecturer in educational leadership at San Diego State University, and Sara Kassis, PhD, professor of engineering and the director of Women in Tech at Sonoma State University.

4CAST’20 is presented through a partnership between the Office of Teaching, Learning & Technology; the UI Libraries; and the Division of World Languages Language Media Center. The event focuses on trending topics in teaching and learning technologies in higher education, with a goal to leverage these technologies and connect UI instructors across disciplinary boundaries.

Mark your calendars for 4CAST’20 to be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm in University Capitol Centre 2520, and be on the lookout for registration information in the coming weeks.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
