Dishonorably discharged Marine Isaac Connor returns home from Afghanistan to find himself in the midst of a new insurrection. A stroke has rendered his father an invalid; his mother, newly liberated from her oppressive marriage, now rules with a fierce anti-patriarchal agenda; and his younger sibling, a sharp intellectual with a taste for anarchy, has come out as transgender. Bitingly funny and achingly devastating, Taylor Mac’s blistering queer comedy examines one family’s struggle to tear down the patriarchy and asks: what do we do with the pieces?

This production contains adult language, misgendering, discussions of sexual violence, and depictions of physical violence.

HIR is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Services, Inc., New York.’s struggle to tear down the patriarchy and asks, what do we do with the pieces?
