Healthy Lifestars Annual Step-a-Thon event

Healthy Lifestars, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping today’s youth fight childhood obesity by promoting active, healthy lifestyles at a young age, will host its annual Step-A-Thon from March 30th through April 3rd. During this week, children and adults alike are encouraged to be healthy and active by logging the most steps for one consecutive week. Funds raised will be used to help combat childhood obesity by supporting underserved children and organizations wishing to join the Healthy LifeStars program.

This virtual step-a-thon can be done by people of all ages anywhere and anytime during the challenge week by logging daily results online. Participation can be done individually or as a team - business, employee wellness groups, families, sororities, doctor’s offices, church clubs, moms’ groups and more  - are invited to rally together to fight childhood obesity by raising money via the virtual challenge.

Groups and individuals can register for the challenge at https://app.mobilecause.com/e/9P-kKQ. Participants can use a pedometer or other step-tracking device such as a smart watch or phone app to track their total daily steps, which they will log into the Healthy LifeStars website each day.

Participants can help Healthy LifeStars raise money by asking friends, family, and business to participate with them in the step-a-thon. Prizes will be awarded to the top adult and child who log the most steps during the week.

Event sponsored by Healthy LifeStars, UI College of Public Health, UI liveWELL, and The Healthiest State Initiative.
