The StrongHawk competition is the first of its kind held at the University of Iowa! This is a strongman competition that will require strength, power, toughness, and extreme grit to finish. Competitors will be competing in five different events over the span of the event.  Participants must be 18 years of age or older to compete.

Event Date: Saturday, April 25th

Location: HTRC Turf


Athletes may prepare for the event in advance during any of our open practice times with access to Rec Serv Strongman Equipment! 

Mondays (February 3 - April 6) | 5:00 - 6:00 PM

Fridays (February 7 - April 10) | 4:30 - 5:30 PM

Weight Classes


Light Weight: up to 144.99 lbs

Middle Weight: 150 lbs - 179.99 lbs

Heavy Weight: 180 lbs and up 


Light Weight: up to 184.99 lbs

Middle Weight: 185 lbs - 219.99 lbs

Heavy Weight: 220 lbs and up


Deadlift for Reps: Athlete will deadlift a predetermined weight for as many reps as possible in 1 minute

Truck Pull: A truck will be attached to a harness that the competitor will wear. The competitor will pull the truck down a 50 ft. track. Time to completion is recorded. 

Press Medley: Athlete will perform a single rep on a predetermined weight circus bell, and then move on to the log press implement for as many rounds as possible in 1 minute.

Yoke and Frame Carry: Athlete will take the yoke down a 50 ft course, and carry the frame back with predetermined weights.

Atlas Stones: Athlete will load a single stone over a yoke bar placed at an appropriate height.
