Barbie Zelizer, Director of Center for Media at Risk at the University of Pennsylvania will be speaking.
"On invisibility and the news in precarious times: Why invisible Trump accommodates critique better than a visible one."

This talk will address invisibility as an invitation to critique in the news. Addressing pictures of Donald Trump in the US news media, it will show how partial and absent acts of visualization provide a useful platform by which to accommodate acts of resistance via satire, irony and other modes of critique that are instrumental for surviving precarious times.
