Abstract:
Automated vehicles have come a long way since Google first announced they were testing them in 2010. But they still have a long way to go. Have they reached peak hype? Will automated vehicle crashes derail their adoption? In this talk I’ll review the state of the art and discuss some of the ways we are contributing to the research on automated vehicles at the National Advanced Driving Simulator. I’ll review both simulation and on-road work that’s being done to push the technology and understand the driver’s role in it.
