4:00PM-4:30PM: Introduction and opening remarks
4:30PM-5:15PM: Presentation/Q&A with UI alumnus Mark Johnson
Mark Johnson is a film and television producer, known for Rain Man (1988), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005), What Lies Beneath (2000), and The Notebook (2004), among many others. He was also an executive producer on award-winning TV series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He is currently at work on an adaptation of Samanta Schweblin’s Fever Dream.
5:30PM-6:00PM: Presentation/Q&A with UI alumni Scott Beck and Brian Woods
Screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods graduated with degrees in Communications Studies from the University of Iowa. They co-wrote and executive produced A Quiet Place (2018) and Haunt (2019). They developed the TV series Zeroes and are currently working on an adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Boogeyman.”
6:00PM-6:30PM: Presentation/Q&A with UI alumnus Matt Sabljak
Matt Sabljak (pronounced “sable-jack”) is President and executive producer at SRH (Sabljak Raether Hogerton, Milwaukee) a branding and production agency that creates digital marketing campaigns and produces films—including shorts and feature-length documentaries and narratives. SRH clients include the Green Bay Packers, and their team includes several award-winning directors. Matt leads growth and strategy for the agency, which means he “works” mostly in coffee shops and bars around the country. He calls Milwaukee home and “his base from which to explore the world.” Matt graduated from the University of Iowa in 2005 with a B.A. in Cinema.
