This workshop will introduce participants to data visualization using R, a programming language for statistical computing and graphics. We will use R to clean and visualize data from real-world examples. Basic experience programming with R is recommended as a prerequisite for this workshop.

Registrants will be granted automatic access to R on the Interactive Data Analytics Service (IDAS) for the duration of the workshop. Participants are encouraged to use IDAS, rather than an installation of R on a personal computer, since the packages and materials necessary for the workshop will be pre-loaded to IDAS before the workshop. Participants will need to log in with their HawkID and authenticate with Two-Step Login (Duo).

The workshop will be delivered via Zoom. Participants may use the chat function in Zoom to ask questions and participate in class. Video and microphone are not required but may be helpful.

The workshop is available at no cost to current University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students. Please register here. Registration will close at noon on Tuesday, October 6th. A Zoom invitation will be sent to participants after registration has closed.

This workshop will not be recorded. Future workshops will be posted on ITS Research Services’ Events page as they are planned. Please email research-computing@uiowa.edu if you register but cannot attend the workshop.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
