Chat From the Old Cap: Lew Montgomery (92BA)

Join Lew Montgomery (92BA), a former All-Big Ten running back at the University of Iowa and the director of community engagement and strategic programs for the Center for Equity in Learning at ACT.

Montgomery leads ACT’s community outreach strategy focused on engaging students, families, educators, and communities to promote equity in learning and success. The Waterloo, Iowa, native develops strategic programs, links partnerships, and coordinates efforts that improve learning opportunities for college-bound students and prepares individuals for college and career readiness.

Montgomery works with several local community organizations, school districts, colleges and universities bridging the gap between opportunity and achievement. A starter and four-year letterman on the Hawkeye football team, he served as a co-captain under legendary coach Hayden Fry.

Liz Tovar, interim associate vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the UI’s Office of the Provost, will host the online session. She is also the associate athletics director within the UI Department of Athletics in the Student-Athlete Academic Services Office.
