The Bijou Film Board is a non-profit, student-run organization dedicated to the exhibition of independent, foreign, and classic cinema. Established in 1972, the Bijou has built a reputation as one of the preeminent student-run cinema organizations in the nation and, for the past five years, has partnered with FilmScene to assist with the programming and operation of the downtown cinema.

Bijou is dedicated to the health and safety of our students and the Iowa City community. All Bijou screenings and meetings this semester will be delivered virtually.

Bijou holds weekly General Board meetings on Sundays @ 5:00pm. There is no application to join the General Board.
There are General Board positions available (Marketing, Bijou Blog - writing and editing, Bijou Banter - podcast, NEW: Publications, NEW: Meeting Documentarian)
Applications to join one of the programming committees (Forum, Horizons, After Hours, Open Screen) will come out later in the semester (October generally). If you have any interest in film programming, writing about film, film theory, film history, or just plain love watching and talking about movies, this is the org for you!

Bijou Film Board Meetings are open to UIOWA students (Undergraduate and Graduate and Professional students) The link is recurring. If it is your first time, please send an email ( bijouui.executive@gmail.com ) so we can prepare to expect you.
