Smart Talks

Dr. Ain Grooms is an assistant professor in the Educational Leadership program. Her research interests focus on equity and access in public education, in particular for Black students and other students of color. In her Foundations of Education course for undergraduates interested in enrolling in the university’s Teacher Education Program, she encourages the interrogation of historical and contemporary relationships between schooling and society.  She will talk with Dr. Joyce Tsai about how they have used museum visits to introduce Foundations students to the history of UI. They will also discuss what public education can and should do to draw strength from and encourage diverse perspectives.
