The Program Era Project. Image depicts sketches of writers from the Iowa Writers' Workshop

Please join us virtually as Loren Glass, Nikki White, and Nicholas Kelly bring together computational text analysis methods with archival research into the Iowa Writers' Workshop to examine pronoun representation in IWW writing. This presentation examines which authors most heavily employ specific first-person/third-person pronouns or whose works are most heavily weighted towards male or female pronoun representation. In the process, the Program Era Project team seeks to demonstrate how simple text features can inspire new research endeavors or can, when combined with archival or historical literary research, provide new insights into the literary output of what has been called the "Program Era."
