As part of our annual Global Public Health Week, the College of Public Health will be hosting featured speaker Kristen Keteles, PhD, of the EPA National Enforcement Investigations Center. This virtual seminar will take place on Monday, September 20 from 12:30-1:30pm CST and all interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.

Dr. Kristen Keteles is a toxicologist at EPA’s National Enforcement Investigations Center (NEIC) in Denver, Colorado. Previously, she served as a toxicologist at EPA Region 8 where she conducted human health and ecological risk assessments and served as a national expert on adverse effects from exposure to contaminants including providing technical assistance during the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and the Gold King Mine Release. At NEIC, Dr. Keteles provides technical assistance in the field of toxicology to support criminal investigations and prosecutions, including expert witness testimony during trials and sentencings involving intentional poisonings and chemical exposures resulting from criminal negligence.  Prior to joining EPA, she worked as a visiting scientist in the Counter Terrorism Forensic Science Research Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia and she also worked as a contaminants expert for the National Park Service. She has a Ph.D. in zoology from Louisiana State University with an emphasis in environmental toxicology and a B.S. in marine science from Coastal Carolina University.
