26th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition

The North American Regional Round will be hosted by the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (virtually) in February 2022

The top teams from the North American Regional Round will be invited to the International Finals of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition, which are planned to be held at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, on April 7-9, 2022. We expect teams from Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America to also participate in the International Finals.  

About our International Finals Judges:  

Dr. Wil Burns is Professor of Research and Co-Director of the Institute for Carbon Removal Law & Policy at American University and Senior Fellow in the International Law Research Program at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Canada.  

Dr. Dave Pritchard has worked for almost 40 years in research, policy, legal, management and governance roles in the fields of environment, culture, and heritage. He is now an independent consultant for bodies including the UN Environment Programme and the Council of Europe, has academic involvements at several universities, and serves on a variety of national and international advisory boards.  

Verónica Cáceres Chamorro is Secretary of the Inter-American Convention for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles, an intergovernmental treaty that entered into force in 2001 and now has sixteen Contracting Parties.  

Eric Talbot Jensen is a Professor of Law at Brigham Young University Law School, where he teaches the Law of Armed Conflict. Previously, he served as the Chief of the US Army’s International Law Branch; Legal Advisor to US military forces in Iraq and Bosnia and to UN military forces in Macedonia; and Professor of International and Operational Law at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.
