Dentist Treatment Planning

This CE course will describe what is evidence-based dentistry (EBD), why it is important, and what are the five steps for implementing EBD in clinical practice. The course will then focus on how EBD can be used for effective dental treatment planning.

  • Search for the relevant literature related to a specific clinical scenario;
  • Apply the five steps of evidence-based dentistry to aid on treatment planning;
  • Apply self-assessment questions to evaluate provider’s performance.

Leo Marchini
Leonardo Marchini, D.D.S., M.S.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he teaches pre-doctoral and grad students in the Geriatrics and Special Needs Program and treats patients in the Faculty General Practice. He works as a general practitioner since his graduation in 1996, with an emphasis in prosthodontics and geriatric dentistry. His current research focus includes investigation of factors affecting geriatric oral diseases, conditions and dental treatments, and patients’ satisfaction with dental care. He is also interested on researching about the best way to teach dentistry, especially geriatric dentistry teaching.
