Write Now: The University of Iowa's Flash Writing Contest
They say everyone has a story to tell. This month, we’d love to read yours.
The University of Iowa is hosting its annual Alumni and Friends Flash Writing Contest—a timed, online, short story competition. We’ll give you a choice from three prompts to incorporate into your story. You’ll have 48 hours and 1,000 words to come up with the rest.
This free online competition is open to a variety of age groups. The contest begins at 4 p.m. (CST) on Friday, January 14, when we’ll provide you with a set of prompts to write your best story. The five age categories include:

| • | Grades 7 & 8 |
| • | Grades 9–12 |
| • | Adult |
Check out the website on January 14 for complete contest details and your selection of writing prompts. The top entry in each age category will receive writing-themed prizes, including a $25 Bookshop.org gift card, and be featured on the UI Write Now Flash Writing Contest website.
