Headshot of artist Lilah Ward. Lilah stands outdoors, in front of a brick wall. She is smiling and she stares off to the left, and is wearing red circular-framed glasses and her hair is partially pink.

For their November Monthly Meetup, the Stanley Campus Council encourages students to join it to consider textiles and sustainability in the museum.

The SCC has organized a sashiko stitching and mending workshop, led by MFA candidate Lilah Ward Shepherd, in the Stanley's third floor seminar room. Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. Bring clothes that need mending or that you'd like to embellish! Supplies provided.

There will also be a special showing of textile and garment work from the Stanley's collection on display in the third floor Visual Classroom space.

After checking out the event, attendees are welcomed to attend Anita Fields' lecture at 7 p.m.

All UI students welcome!

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
