Donald B. Osbon

The Donald B. Osbon Memorial Fund was established in 1987 to support a lecture series held every two years in Dr. Osbon's honor.

Dr. Osbon was professor and head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry from 1979 until his death in 1986.

Although Dr. Osbon received numerous awards for his professional contributions, he took the greatest pride in the 49 oral and maxillofacial surgeons he trained.

This lecture series is a testament to Osbon's ongoing impact on his department and field.

The 2023 Donald B. Osbon Memorial Lecture will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, in the Galagan Auditorium on the 1st floor of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. This event qualifies for 6 CE credits and is free to participants who pre-register. If you would like to attend the dinner following the lecture, pre-payment and pre-registration is required.

The keynote speaker will be Daniel Buser, professor and chair of the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland and a part-time lecturer on restorative dentistry and biomaterials science at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

Additional information is available on the course website.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
