EAC: Connecting Leadership Styles

Facilitators: Jason Walls, Curriculum & Assessment Graduate Fellow, Residence Education; and Taylor Sung, Graduate Success Graduate Assistant, Graduate College
Description:
This program will help participants conceptualize “leadership” by breaking it down into distinct categories and viewing it through multicultural lenses. The program will also encourage participants to reflect on their own notions of leadership and, with the aid of panelists, consider how they may synthesize leadership styles. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to explore multicultural leadership approaches in practical contexts for international students.
Participants who attend this session will learn:
- identify differences between leadership qualities and practices in the United States vs. those in their home countries/cultures
- generate new frames of reference for approaching leadership that meaningfully synthesize culturally influenced leadership styles
- apply leadership concepts to practical contexts for international students
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
