Data Mountain is a self-determination program that teaches students with disabilities how to self-monitor and set goals. Come learn how the program works and the effects on improving the reading fluency of post-secondary students with disabilities!

Learning Objectives:

After this presentation, participants will be able to:

1. Implement self-monitoring, goal setting, and teach students to attribute their success to their use of strategies within their reading fluency progress monitoring practices.

2. Recognize the importance of fostering self-determination skills for improved student learning across the lifespan.

3. Examine research evidence to support the use of self-determination practices in classrooms.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
