Iowa Mountaineers flag and memorabilia

The Iowa Mountaineers was a student organization at the University of Iowa that introduced Midwesterners to the sport of climbing. The club was active from 1940 until 1996, taking thousands of Iowans to mountains around the world and setting wilderness education standards. Iowa City filmmaker, John Richard, is creating a feature-length film about the club, using archived audio and visual recordings, photographs, journals, letters, and other historical documents. John will share his story about how he got involved in making the film and will give the audience a sneak peek into the filmmaking process.

This event is sponsored by UI Recreational Services Adventure Recreation and the UI Office of Sustainability and the Environment.
