Isabel Cauas in Conversation with Diego Lasansky and Adam Rake
Sep 7, 2023
06:30 PM - 08:00 PM
160 West Burlington Street, Iowa City, IA 52242
Join us to hear Isabel Cauas will discuss her current book project, Women Printmakers Who Have Left Their Imprint at Taller 99. It highlights 47 female artists who have worked at Taller 99 (Santiago, Chile) from when it opened in 1956 to the present. Each profile tells a unique story of a woman seeking to make art under the constraints and expectations of Chilean society over the past six decades.
Diego Lasansky and Adam Rake will join Isabel in conversation during the second half of the program. Recent examples of Isabel’s work will be on display in the lobby during the program.
Isabel Cauas is an artist-in-residence at the Lasansky Gallery & Studio in Iowa City in September 2023. Her work includes techniques from printmaking, drawing, painting, and metalsmithing. Based in Santiago, Chile, she is the President of the Board of the Corporación Cultural Taller 99 and teaches lithography at Taller 99. Her exhibition at the Lasansky Gallery & Studio opens on Sept. 15.
