Global Alumni Spotlight Series features global nursing leader Dr. Karen Bjøro

Join International Programs for a conversation with University of Iowa alumna Dr. Karen Bjøro (PhD gerontological nursing ‘08), a leader in global nursing and health policy, as part of our Global Alumni Spotlight Series.
Bjøro will discuss the importance of nurses as they make up the vast majority of the health workforce, and in many countries around the world they may be the only health professional an individual meets during their life. They are a vital piece to attain universal health care coverage for all people. However, nurses are often not represented at the policy table where decisions are made. The International Council of Nurses, of which Bjøro is currently 2nd vice president, has a central role to play in advocating for health for all people and greater investment in the nursing workforce.
