You are invited to join Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa Libraries on Thursday, May 2, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., as we celebrate two major milestones: the completion of a fourth-floor renovation, including the John Martin Rare Book Room, and the 50th year of Hardin’s service to the university and beyond.

Hardin’s fourth floor was converted into a more welcoming space that better meets the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff. The updates were made possible by a generous grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.

The John Martin Rare Book Room (JMRBR) received a new reading room and shelving space for its nearly 6,500 volumes pertaining to the history of the health sciences from the 15th through the 21st centuries.
