A graphic advertising the Stanley Museum of Art event, "Night at the Museum: The Art of Voting." It features a collage of images, showcasing block printed images that blend political and voting-inspired artwork with art from the Stanley's collections.

Join us for the first installment of Night at the Museum for this academic year — a series of monthly events for students that occur on Thursday nights, when the museum is open late.

This month, in honor of National Voter Registration Day (Sept. 17), the Stanley is helping students learn about voter registration and civic engagement! Members of UI student org Hawk the Vote will be present to register students to vote and talk about the value of participating in elections at all levels: federal, state, and local.

Because art has played a significant role in voting history, the Stanley has also prepared some politically inspired block prints for students to use with the assistance of our staff. BYO fabric goods (T-shirts, tote bags, scraps that can be used as fabric patches) to be printed on! We will also have totes, pencil bags, and fabric patches, but our supply is limited. Snacks will be provided.

Once a month, the Stanley hosts events designed to introduce the museum to University of Iowa students through engaging and creative activities. These events, called "Nights at the Museum," occur on Thursday nights when the museum is open late, are planned and developed with the assistance of the Campus Engagement Coordinator, a student employee who works with museum staff to engage student audiences. Information about past Nights at the Museum can be found here. Attending these student events also enables students to get a stamp on their Stanley Student Challenge card, for a chance to win a prize.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
