Interested in learning more about computer science, technology, and software in a fun and friendly environment?
ACM@UIOWA is the local student chapter of the International Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), one of the oldest and largest professional organizations in tech. We promote computing and technology in a fun and casual environment and serve as the premier Computer Science student organization at Iowa (of course, students of all majors are welcome to join!).
What ACM does:
- As we have done in the past, we plan on holding tech talks, professional development opportunities, and social events this year. This fall, we plan to host company speakers from NVIDIA, Linkedin, and Trello, Atlassian!
- Help in landing internships: We have many current and previous members who have landed internships and full time positions at local and global companies like Citadel, John Deere, Liberty Mutual, Netflix, Google, and GoDaddy etc. and have had members pursue graduate programs at top schools in the nation. We will provide resources and guidance to help you land an internship and a job through events such as resume workshops and informational sessions.
- We will also be hosting fun events like friendly Leetcode Contests and Raspberry Pi nights to help members gain exposure to new technologies and strengthen problem-solving skills.
- We are hosting our annual conference, the University of Iowa Computing Conference (UICC), where we invite speakers from across the country to present on a prevalent theme in Computer Science – this year’s theme will discuss FinTech. The event will take place mid-to-late February and will have free food and prizes.
Those who are not ACM@UIOWA members should go to Chapter website for more information and to join!
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
