When AI Feynman Meets Plasma Turbulence

Rui Huang; University of Iowa

This seminar will address two key questions: 1) What do we mean by "plasma turbulence", and what exactly are we studying? 2) How can we incorporate scientific knowledge into machine learning algorithms to make them more interpretable? In particular, the idea of symbolic regression, i.e. extracting analytical expressions from data, will be introduced. An example of applying a symbolic regression algorithm, AI Feynman, to the plasma turbulence problem of predicting the ion-to-electron turbulent heating ratio, will also be demonstrated.
