Motivating Change: The Power of Motivational Interviewing in Schools and at Home

Description: This webinar introduces K-12 educators and caregivers to the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing (MI), a conversational approach designed to "strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal." Participants will learn the fundamentals of MI as well as techniques for using MI to support students in making positive changes, improving communication, and fostering self-directed learning and growth, at school and home.
Learning Goals: 1) Understand the foundation of motivational interviewing (MI); particularly the stages of change model. 2) Learn practical strategies for applying MI to support student change, growth, and goal attainment at school and at home. 3) Apply an open, collaborative approach to asking questions and working with students in stimulating behavior change and goal achievement.
