2025 Course Design Institute
Applications for the Center for Teaching's Course Design Institute are due by Friday, March 28. Apply online.
The Course Design Institute is a multi-day, in-person workshop for instructors who wish to design, redesign, or revise a course.
Instructors accepted into the institute will use evidence-based strategies to create equitable and integrated courses, align course learning goals with assessments and activities, and be able to demonstrate their course structure through their syllabus. Participants will benefit from hands-on guidance, networking opportunities, and ongoing support from educational developers.
Accepted applicants should plan to attend the entire institute, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day from May 19 through May 23.
Instructors must have DEO approval before they apply. We will begin to review applications on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Note: The Course Design Institute is designed for instructors who plan to design, redesign, or revise an in-person or hybrid course. If you are a graduate/post-doctoral student or wish to work on an online course, email teaching@uiowa.edu and we can connect you with the appropriate resources.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
