BGC: Pronunciation of Chinese Names and Greetings
This session serves as an introduction to Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin) pronunciation. Using the most commonly seen Chinese names as examples, it introduces the romanization system of Chinese pronunciation—Pinyin, the four tones, and greetings in Mandarin Chinese.
Participants may take courses individually, without working toward a certificate. Successful fulfillment of the Building Our Global Community certificate requires completion of one required core course and four elective courses. All courses taken for the program are free of charge to participants.
UI faculty and staff can sign up online through Employee Self-Service under the “Personal” tab in My Training; search for courses listed with "BGC" in the course title.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Brandon Paulson in advance at (319) 335-0335.
