Hip Hop for Humanity – Che "Rhymefest" Smith Keynote Address – MLK Week
The 2018 MLK Celebration of Human Rights Week Keynote Address, entitled "Hip Hop for Humanity," will be delivered by Che "Rhymefest" Smith.
Che "Rhymefest" Smith is the quintessential Renaissance man. As a Grammy-award winning writer, artist, activist, political organizer and teacher, he has cracked glass ceilings and shattered negative stereotypes about hip-hop.
Among his many distinctions, Rhymefest became the first rapper to meet in the British House of Commons when Conservative Leader of the Opposition, David Cameron invited him to discuss hip-hop and policy, resulting in an initiative called “Hugs for Hoodies.” He is also the cofounder of Donda's House, a non-profit premium arts program that has provided adolescents and young adults with free instruction and that continues to be a force for creative change in Chicago.
