Adam Potter serves as the Director for the Central Midwest Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) and is employed as a Senior HR Specialist at the University of Iowa, where he assists & advises departments in various aspects of talent acquisition. Additionally, he is the Dual Career Services coordinator for the University. Adam’s HR career began in 1997 as a military recruiter and he has held various HR leadership roles over the last 25 years.

Adam is a retired Army veteran with over 20 years of service. His career began as an Infantry soldier with the 82nd Airborne Division and later he served in various assignments as a Recruitment Specialist, Recruiting Station Manager, and Senior Army Career Liaison with the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.  He studied Criminal Justice through Grantham University and is a graduate of the Army’s Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course along with numerous other military professional development courses. 

Adam lives with his spouse and two sons in Iowa City, Iowa.

Join us for a discussion with a retired Army veteran, “From ‘Dogpatch’ to the University of Iowa: A non-traditional path taken…” Adam will share his personal story being born into a “non-traditional” family in the early 70’s, an in depth discussion about 20 years in the military, and transitioning back into civilian employment. The discussion will then delve into current projects such as being a member with the Native American Council (NAC), community collaborations, and current perspectives in Talent Acquisition in University Human Resources.
