Sarah Rose Etter will read from her best selling novel, Ripe, which was named a Best Book of the Year by Time, Huffington Post, and Kirkus. This novel, now available in paperback, has been A New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice, a Roxane Gay Audacious Book Club Selection, and a Marie Claire Book Club Pick. Etter will be joined in conversation by author Carmen Maria Machado.

Sarah Rose Etter is the author of the chapbook Tongue Party and The Book of X, winner of a Shirley Jackson Award for Best Novel. Her work has appeared in Time, Guernica, BOMB, The Bennington Review, The Cut, and VICE. She has been awarded residencies at the Jack Kerouac House, the Disquiet International program in Portugal, and the Gullkistan Writing Residency in Iceland. She earned her BA in English from Pennsylvania State University and her MFA in fiction from Rosemont College. She lives in Los Angeles.
Carmen Maria Machado is the author of the bestselling memoir In the Dream House and the award-winning short story collection Her Body and Other Parties. She has been a finalist for the National Book Award and the winner of prizes, including the Bard Fiction Prize, the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction, and the National Book Critics Circle's John Leonard Prize. She is a Visiting Associate Professor of fiction for the Writers’ Workshop.
