Biomedical Device Design: Prototyping in the Carver Medical Device Design Lab

Medical devices are a $42.1 billion industry in the United States and will continue to grow for the next five years. As the medical device market continues to grow, so will the need for biomedical engineers capable of effectively developing these devices. The Carver Medical Device Design Laboratory housed in the Biomedical Engineering department offers equipment and expertise for the early stages of research and medical device development. Available technologies include a micro-welder, medical adhesive station, 4-axis CNC mill, and laser cutter. Dr. Bringman will present the various equipment in the lab and request feedback on how best to incorporate this lab into biomedical engineering graduate education.
