Join us for a conversation on the groundbreaking work of Martha Graham, the iconic American modern dancer and choreographer, where panelists will discuss the deep impact leading mid-century visual artists played on her choreographic vision.
The conversation will give special emphasis to the work of Isamu Noguchi, who designed the set for Errand into the Maze and Alexander Calder, who designed mobiles for Graham’s Panorama—both will be performed on the Martha Graham Dance Company presentation at Hancher Auditorium on March 29.

Dubbed the "Dancer of the Century" by Time Magazine, Martha Graham's (1894-1991) ballets drew inspiration from diverse sources like modern art, the American West, Native American rituals and Greek myths. Many of her powerful roles embody iconic women throughout history and mythology. Her innovative movement style, the Graham technique, revolutionized American dance and continues to be taught around the world. Her artistic spirit lives on in the ongoing performances of the Martha Graham Dance Company.
