Social Work CEU: Practice with Refugees & Immigrants

• Open to: 

  • social work undergraduate students (Selected Aspects of Social Work Course SSW:3799)
  • graduate students from health, education, law and social work
  • practicing social workers and other professionals from the community (CEUs available for a fee)

 

• This 2-day intensive course allows participants to understand refugee and immigrant needs and strengths on micro, mezzo, and macro levels, with a focus on increasing participants’ competence and skill in practical day-to-day interactions seen in neighborhoods and work places (viz., case management, therapy, hospitals, schools, DHS, juvenile court).
• Practice-specific skills and personal exploration of values, ethics, and goals are key components of the course.
• To earn credit, students will complete assignments in class, actively participate in class, and complete a 5-page reflection paper. (Students need to register for this course.)
