In this session, you will have an opportunity to discover your culturally preferred approach or style of resolving conflict using the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory developed by Dr. Mitchell Hammer. Being aware of your own cultural style, you will be better able to understand and adapt to the styles of others and work more effectively in intercultural settings.

? Participants who attend this session will be able to:

  • identify their conflict communication style and preferred approach for navigating conflicts
  • recognize other conflict communication styles and how they might interact
  • discuss how this may be useful in your work and home life

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
