Did you know there are around 400 different species of native bees in Iowa? These tiny insects are responsible for pollinating many of our food crops!

Come to the Conservation Education Center at Kent Park to learn all about the amazing native bees in Iowa. After the presentation, you can stay to learn how to build and maintain a very special observation bee hotel, which will allow you to see these bees in action and boost your garden’s production.

Thanks to Lowes in Coralville for supplying a 50% discount on the hardware, it will only cost participants $15 to build their own bee hotel.

We ask everyone who builds a house for themselves, to donate their time to build a second house that will be hung up in one of JCC’s properties.

Space and supplies are limited. Please register by calling 319-645-1011, or email fowen@co.johnson.ia.us.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
