Talk Title: Exploring the microbial dark matter in the oral cavity using multi-omics

Summary: The oral cavity is an open ecosystem with niche-specific microbial colonization. After the gut, the oral cavity hosts the second largest and diverse microbial population in the human body. The emergence of next-generation sequencing approaches has started to reveal the complexities in the structure, function, and dynamics of the oral microbiome, and their role in health and disease. The talk will discuss the relative contributions of various factors to shaping the oral microbiome using complementary, integrated -omics approaches.
